See & Do Knoydart

Knoydart is abundant with activity and things to see and do. Leaving behind the fast paced life and relaxing with no mobile signal in Inverie. (You can however get online free 24/7 at the Foundation display room in the main village)

Knoydart has something for everybody when it comes to walking - from low-level, two-hour wanders, to extended Munro-bagging expeditions. The Ranger Service has produced a range of nine walks leaflets which many find useful, and also sell maps which are essential for the more serious days out, or for people who just want to wander wherever the mood takes them! The Ranger Service is often the first port of call for visitors to Knoydart. Here, by the Knoydart Foundation Display Room, you can find lots of information on activities and outdoor events, as well as ask advice about exploring the area.

We run regular guided walks throughout the season, and private guided walks and landrover tours are also available.

Woodland is an integral part of the spectacular Knoydart landscape. The natural beauty of the woods can be enjoyed by exploring the network of woodland paths and tracks. You can take a stroll in Inverie Woods and spot the various sculptures or for a more adventurous experience try out the challenging downhill mountain bike track or the gentler fun loop. In summer months you can join us on a guided walk in the woods.

Leaflets and more information are available in the Knoydart Foundation display room and in the KFT “bus shelter” outside Knoydart Pottery & Tearoom. Or check VisitKnoydart.

Why walk when you can ride?
Knoydart Carbon Cycle is a branch of the Knoydart Foundation Ranger Service, providing bike hire services to enable visitors to explore more of the Knoydart peninsula. We have seven adult Specialized mountain bikes sized from small to extra- large, and three children’s Frog mountain bikes. Hire periods are anything from a few hours to a few weeks, prices start at £8 for children and £12 for adults. We offer discounts for group bookings of 4 bikes or more. Contact for more information, or pop in to the Foundation shop.

Stargazing
We have no light pollution here on Knoydart. Stunning dark skies lit up by the most amazing show of stars. Follow the arc of the Milky Way, trace the big dipper, find the North Star and plot your way around our night sky. If you are lucky you might catch an illuminating performance of the heavenly dancers' emerald and coral bursts from the Northern Lights / Aurora long beach oron the hill line at Doune and Airor.

Low levels walks or climb a few Munros.
Head along the shoreline before supper, beach strolls at sunrise, hill walking, hill running, deer stalking, stalking with a camera, go on a ranger guided walk, historical walks can be arranged, daytrips to the Small Isles, Isle of Skye or further afield. Land Rover tours and low level walks with our Knoydart Ranger service and nature walks for children make for a special holiday. For excellent guided walks in and around the munros and some beautiful photograph opportunities and if your lucky catch the Northern Lights / Aurora on Knoydart with our Knoydart Foundation Rangers.
