Knoydart · Inverness-shire
Welcome to a unique cottage on the remote peninsular of Knoydart in the West Scottish Highlands.
Located on the shoreline of Loch Nevis, set in 400 acres of private land encompassing 1.5 miles of untouched coastline, islands, woodlands, open moorland, rolling hills, rivers and waterfalls - not to mention the peninsular's other 55 square miles! A beautifully tranquil and secluded location - the closest neighbour is over 0.5 miles away. It is 15 minutes' drive from Inverie, the only village on Knoydart. Family owned and rented for over 20 years since being rebuilt from the a shepherd's cottage ruin. It is powered using a Micro-Hydroelectric system and water from Sandaig Burn. Accommodation The cottage is bound by the ruined stone walls of a traditional Sheppard's cottage. Re-built and modernised, creating a safe, sanctuary away from the elements. The accommodation includes: A large open plan Kitchen + Living room with open wood fireplace Oil fuelled Range Cooker, Open plan, naturally lit, attic bedroom 3 Double Rooms with sea views out over the bay 2 Singles Beds (In Attic) 2 Folding Futons (In Attic) New shower room & WC A rear draught porch / cloak room. Included in the rental of the house is a long wheelbase 110 diesel Landrover Defender and the 9 ft dinghy, Nutkin with oars and a sail. Location The Bay has been quoted as being home to 'one of the world's 50 best beaches'. This bay is located 4 miles, or a 15 minute drive from Knoydart's only village, Inverie, which is reached by ferry from Mallaig, the road and rail head. The peninsular of Knoydart is 'the last wilderness in the British isles'. Its unique location, scenery and lack of road link to the rest of the mainland have all aided in maintaining the seclusion of this beautiful place. Knoydart is a place which our family hold very dear and it is our pleasure to be able to share it with you - sandy beaches, seascapes, wildlife and all.
