Rhu Ach Mhor
The Cottage · Curtaig · Morar · Inverness-shire
The cottage, Rhu Ach Mhor, is situated 200 metres off the road up a sandy track, at the end of Camusdarach Beach.
It can comfortably sleep five in three bedrooms - one double, one small room with a single bed and one with bunk beds. It has a combined living room/kitchen looking out over the beach and to the islands.
It was actually made into the church in the film Local Hero - and for those who know the film they will know it really is in a superb location. It is great for kids too - although it is not fenced in and is open to the beach.
There is an open area outside the cottage with garden furniture, leading down over the burn and onto the beach and a path leading along to the less well known Refuge Beach at the back of the hill.
The cottage is furnished with a recently renovated kitchen with gas hob and electric oven, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Centrally heated throughout with a combi-boiler - so there is also instant hot water.
There is a lovely bathroom with large bath and shower.
We currently have TV and Internet access.
We provide downies, blankets and pillows - but no sheets or towels.
The cottage is around 4 miles from Arisaig, 3 from Morar and 5 from Mallaig, where there are shops, bars and restaurants. Ferries go from both Arisaig and Mallaig to the Small Isles of Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna along with regular ferries between Armadale on Skye and Inverie on the Knoydart Peninsula.
There is a 9 hole golf course at Traigh two minutes drive along the road. Fishing and dingy hire is available on Loch Morar a couple of miles away, and there are numerous possibilities for hill-walking and nature watching on the doorstep.
