Films such as Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter The Prisoner of Azkaban and Local Hero have all been produced in and around the Road to the Isles. There are however at least another nine films that have featured the incredible scenery of the Road to the Isles.
Harry Potter - Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Jacobite Steam Train feature in the HP movies,travelling the majestic and magical journey. Harry Potter enthusiasts can be seen frequently on the Jacobite Steam Train.
Outlander - Whilst not filmed on the Road to the Isles itself the popularity of the Outlander series has undoubtedly increased visitor attraction to the West Highlands of Scotland. Outlander enthusiasts can reach the locations from Road to the Isles - the closest being located at Newtonmore and near Inverness.
When travelling from Stirling or Glasgow area to the West Highlands via Glencoe, you will pass one of they most pivotal scenes in Outlander.
Craigh Na Dun - Rannoch Moor - PH17 2QA- The stunning mountain scenery of Dunalastair Estate near Rannoch Moor is also featured in the series of Outlander.
Local Hero - Features Polnish Church (white church on the hill) at Lochailort and Camusdarach Beach, Arisaig. The film also has a very well known theme tune called Local Hero Wild Theme by the famous Mark Knopfler.
