Ach na skia Croft Ach na skia is a small croft situated about a mile north of the village of Arisaig, where the road sweeps down towards the sea with spectacular and constantly changing views of the islands of Eigg, Rum and Skye and the sandy beaches that fringe the old coast road to Morar. Scottish Tourist Board 3 and 4 stars 3 cedar lodges a cottage and NEW for 2018 a round pod. The lodges sleep 4 or 5 and the pod sleeps 2-4.
There are 4 properties on the croft – the Cottage, a detached chalet, Island View, and semi-detached chalets, Creag Mhor and Glen Mhor Lodges – and some great facilities for all the family – see below. We are perfectly placed to catch the spectacular sunsets. Surrounding the croft are fields with horses, sheep and cattle, including Highland cattle and ponies, and to the rear looms the rocky outcrop of Creag Mhor. The closest beach is an 8 minute stroll, the local golf course 1.5 miles, Arisaig railway station 1.4 miles, bar and restaurant just 200 metres away. There are grocery shops and other facilities in Arisaig (1 mile) and Mallaig (7 miles). The Cottage (3 stars) Sleeps 2 - 4 plus baby Lounge with views to Skye. TV, DVD player, radio/CD/cassette, iPhone docking station. Bathroom with bath and electric shower over. Shaver socket, towel warmer. Spacious porch with washer/drier, small freezer and boot/coat drier. Large and unusual garden with picnic table and clothes line. Parking space. Kitchen/dining room - views to west. Cooker with ceramic hob, oven and grill. Fridge and microwave. Iron and ironing board, hairdryer. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (ground floor), 1 twin (upstairs) with space for cot. Cot and high chair available on request. The Cottage is particularly good for 1 or 2 couples or families with 1 or 2 children plus baby. The beds upstairs can be pushed together if required. There is plenty of space upstairs for a cot. Access is fairly flat, only small steps, and suitable for wheelchair access up to 2'3' width. It adjoins our house but is completely separate and sound-proof. Convector heaters can be set on 24 hour timer. A selection of books, DVDs, games and lots of visitor information is provided. Electricity on £1 coin meter. Use of Games room and play area. Free Wi-Fi access. Use of sauna on coin meter bookable for your own use. Island View (3 stars) Sleeps 2 - 5 This bright and airy chalet has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area with views to Skye. Washer/drier. Cooker with ceramic hob, oven & grill. Microwave. Fridge/freezer. Iron and ironing board, hairdryer. Bathroom with bath and electric shower over. Shaver socket, towel warmer. Porch with coat hanging and boot drier. Large, fully enclosed garden with picnic table and clothes line. One dog accepted. High chair available on request. Covered verandah with views across the sea to Rum and Eigg. Parking space. Living room, dual aspect with views to sea and islands. TV, DVD player, hi-fi, iPhone dock. 2 bedrooms - one double, one with 2'6' bunks plus full-sized single bed. Not suitable for a cot. Island View is good for a couple or a family with younger children. The verandah catches the sun most of the day. There is lots of space to play in the garden. TV, DVD player, hi-fi, iPhone dock. Porch with washer/drier, boot drier and small freezer. Bathroom with bath and electric shower over. Shaver socket. Gardens to front and rear with picnic table and clothes line. Verandah with views across the sea to west and north-west – Small Isles and Skye. Parking spaces adjacent to each Lodge. Fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Ceramic hob, oven & grill. Microwave oven. Fridge. Dishwasher. Iron and ironing board, hairdryer. 2 bedrooms: One double with space for a cot. One with full-sized bunks plus full-sized single bed. Cot and high chair available on request. The Lodges have great views, even when you're sitting down, because of their elevated position and low lounge windows. They are spacious and comfortable with excellent insulation, so they are cosy at any time of year. Although externally semi-detached they were built totally separately apart from roof and exterior walls so that no sound carries from one to another. Heating can be operated as central heating or by individual heater. A selection of books, DVDs, games and lots of visitor information is provided. Electricity on £1 coin meter. Facilities at Ach na skia Croft: GAMES ROOM: The Games room has a pool table (full size) with a board and net that can be put over it to make a table tennis table. The Games room also has a selection of toys, fishing nets, balls etc. PLAY PARK: In the field there is a fenced off area with a slide and swings for younger children. SAUNA: The sauna is on drop-coin timer. Average cost per sauna £6/£9. Sign yourself up for exclusive use of the sauna area. VOLLEY NET: In the field in front of the Lodges there is plenty of space for playing games. There is a net for volleyball or badminton.
