The Gathering
Luxury Bed and Breakfast Accommodation in Knoydart
|
The Gathering was opened in March 2004, bringing a new kind of accommodation to the remote Knoydart peninsula.
The aim is to put an emphasis on giving you all the friendliness, luxury and comforts of home, when you are indoors, leaving you free to focus on enjoying the remote wild beauty you are here to enjoy, when you are outdoors. So far, if the comments in my visitors book are anything to go by, we're doing not too badly! I am located a five-minute walk from Inverie's pier, with a stunning view of Loch Nevis and a backdrop of three Munros. |

The Gathering was a completely new build and all my rooms are modern and furnished to the highest of standards, with underfloor heating, and private spacious en-suites. Full Scottish Breakfast is served in front of one of the most spectacular views in the area.

Evening meals can be taken locally, again just 5 minutes away in The Old Forge or the Pier House Restaurant - or even further afield at Doune Marine for the more adventurous walkers. All three feature local produce and seafood and can be heartily recommended!
Location & Access
The village of Inverie lies between hill and loch, on the southern shore of the Knoydart Peninsula. Although the peninsula is part of the Scottish mainland, it is only accessible by a seven-mile sea-loch journey - or for the more adventurous, a sixteen mile trek across the hills! Most visitors arrive on Bruce Watt's regular ferry - however, for larger groups or schedule reasons, it can prove more convienent to hire your own boat transport, which has the additional bonus of a time that suits you. You can also speak to me about arranging private boat hire. All boats leave from the fishing village of Mallaig, which is less than 50 miles west of Fort William along the famous "Road to the Isles".The Gathering is an easy five minute walk from the pier and the centre of the village. Guests with baggage can be picked up in the Gathering's 4x4, so no need to worry about dragging heavy bags any distance - I know they tend to get heavier around the famous Old Forge!

Wildlife Watching
The remoteness of the Knoydart Peninsula lends itself to an impressive range of sea and land wildlife. The Knoydart Ranger has information on bird and mammal wildlife. Marine wildlife tours can be arranged through WA Marine and Environment.Powerboat Package
You can book a four-day package run in conjunction with Knoydart Sea School. This unique experience will give you the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Powerboat Certificate from the RYA, then take a day trip, where you take the 8m, 225hp RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) to the stunning islands of Rum or Eigg. The package includes all meals, your RYA certification, and, of course, accommodation in the comfortable surroundings of The Gathering. If you already have powerboat experience, Intermediate and Advanced courses are also available. Contact Cara for further information.
