Perched on the hill overlooking the bay Downey Birch House is a short walk for The Old Library Restaurant and Rhu Café - both serving locally caught fresh fish, and the Arisaig Hotel. Arisaig Marina has a lovely gift shop and café, and the Shearwater ferryboat cruises the small isles daily during the season. Arisaig railway station, the Land Sea & Island Centre and all village amenities are within striking distance.
Around Arisaig there are breath-taking walks, stunning secluded white sandy beaches, and a wealth of wildlife. See herons, buzzards, deer, seals, Golden Eagles, and there is both sea fishing and loch fishing (by permit). The daily boat trips on the Shearwater during the summer months to the Small Isles have regular sightings of porpoise, minke whale & basking shark. |
