Road to the Isles Agricultural Show, Camusdarach
10th June 2006
(Second Saturday in June every year)
| This Agricultural Show focuses on the animals
reared in the area bounded by Knoydart, the Small Isles,
Mallaig, Morar, Arisaig. Lochailort, Glenfinnan to
Drumsallie Bridge and south through Ardnamurchan to Loch
Linnhe and Loch Eil. We try to highlight the interests of all the families concerned with crofting, farming or fishing, so there is a thriving handicrafts marquee exhibiting everything from vegetable animals from nursery school age children through knitting, sewing, painting, sketching, photography and carving to all manner of delicious home baking. There will also be a compost competition. |

Events in the show ring in 2005 included a
Parade of Highland Cattle & a Pageant showing the
uses, throughout history, of the Highland Garron pony, as
well as a working sheepdog demonstration. Events in 2006 include a return visit by the ever popular Loch Lomond Ducks, a Junior Shinty match and Iain McConnell's sheep dogs, fresh from their triumphant win for Scotland in "One Man and His Dog". There will also be a dog show, a wood carver giving demonstrations, Fire Engine, machinery displays, sheep shearing, and The Highland Rangers event for the children. The Mallaig Deer Shunters Motor-cycle Club will be present, publicising their fund-raising Charities Challenge trip through 9 East European countries for Save the Children. There will also be a selection of local Nurseries selling a wonderful variety of herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees. |
