Achateilasaig is a stone built house dating back to about 1890 which has been modernised primarily for the family's use. When we are not there it is available for letting to careful tenants. Downstairs it has a pleasant sitting room looking out to sea with a CD player and radio, a kitchen/dining room with a separate scullery. | ![]() Inside the kitchen |
| There is a bathroom with a shower and a single bedroom. A coin operated telephone (01687 450239) is available in the front porch. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with twin beds and one with a single bed. The two larger rooms have spectacular views out to sea. Blankets and a double duvet are provided but tenants must provide their own sheets, pillow cases, duvet cover and towels. | ![]() Main bedroom |
The windows of the front rooms are double glazed and there is night storage heating throughout. Hot water is heated by electricity and there is an additional electric, open fire effect, heater in the sitting room. All electricity is included in the rent.

Outside there is a fenced garden as well as a large lock up garage and a shed for storage. There is ample parking for extra vehicles. We always welcome well behaved dogs, but owners must realise that there are sheep and cattle near the house and that they are responsible for their dog's behaviour at all times both inside and outside the house. The surrounding woods are part of the property and are ideal for exploring. | ![]() Achateilasaig from the beach |
| In addition, there is easy private access to numerous private sandy beaches. In 2005 The Scotsman Newspaper gave second place in the 'Best Beaches Around Scotland' competition to the beaches around Achateilasaig saying 'Camusdarach Beach has wonderful views out to the islands of Rum, Eigg and Skye, and acres of pristine white sand, also featured in the TV series Hamish Macbeth and the film Local Hero'. | ![]() From the beach outside Achateilasaig looking out to Rum |

The area offers unparallelled opportunities for
outdoor and indoor activities. It is well known for the
White Sands of Morar which make an ideal spot for
bathing. You can explore the countryside on foot or take a trip on one of the many ferries and cruises that visit the islands of the Hebrides or give you a guided tour of the habitats of whales and dolphins. In the summer months you can travel by steam train to and from Fort William. |
| There is an indoor swimming pool in Mallaig and good opportunities for playing golf and for visiting local Heritage Centres. There are also plenty of small hotels and restaurants in the villages, many serving locally caught fresh fish, and the local shops are good for all provisions. | ![]() Crystal clear waters |
